ASK 2020 – Looking Toward One another, in Community

Please Consider this summer’s ASK 2020 – a conference on our relationship with the living Christ in Atlanta!

As many of us are spending time thinking about the coming of Easter, we may also be planning our gardens for spring planting, summer tending, and autumn harvest. I am contemplating our ASK 2020 conference in Atlanta, as “cultivating the garden of meaning”, which is the title of an article by Rev. Carol Kelly, in Perspectives, a newsletter from the U.K. It struck me as pertinent, because one of her paragraphs says, “We need to gather together as adults for retreats and conferences, to be able to turn off the phone, to become quiet, to listen, to gather insights from one another and to pray. We do not take this seriously enough. Retreats are opportunities for deep community building, for deepening our understanding of the passion and resurrection of Christ, for learning one another’s biographies and strengthening our connection to one another. We have one direction in church, facing the altar. But we have another direction to cultivate in community life, looking toward one another and building Christ-community.”

Please consider joining us June 24-28, this summer, for just such a cultivation of fertile ground. Our website is ask2020atlanta.org.

This June in the Netherlands

June 2 – 6, 2017

Whitsun fire, The gift of freedom

How do we catch the spark? How do we nurse the flame? How do we light the fire?

This conference is an excellent opportunity to meet different people from all over the world belonging to the Christian Community, to celebrate the Act of Consecration of Man, and work together on our central theme.

For our regular participants and the youth (15 – 25) we will offer different programs with lectures, workshops and other activities. A bazaar will acquaint you with all kinds of initiatives in The Christian Community around the world; here a flame is burning or maybe a whole fire? We call them ‘fire pits.’

For children age 10 – 14 there will be a special tented camp on our own campground near the village of Ruinen.

For more information, go to www.whitsunconference2017.org. On this website you will find all kinds of information concerning the conference. Soon you will be able to register as a participant or post your questions. The conference includes a children’s camp and youth festival.

Seeing Christ Through 20th Century Art

the-lamb-by-paul-kleeLooking back to the twentieth century, we see mankind go collectively through a profound crisis.  We entered a dark abyss.  Out of the darkness Christ revealed himself anew.  Traces of this event are reflected in the art and artists who lived through it.  In this course we will learn to see these traces.

Join the seminary in Chestnut Ridge, New York for this open course with seminary directors Revs. Bastiaan Baan and Patrick Kennedy and artist Regine Kurek: December 12 – 16, 2016.

Register here. Only 10 spaces left!
